Kevin Burns

Kevin Burns is a senior executive in the information technology industry with 30+ years of experience as a CEO, board member, and investor. Mr. Burns co-founded Lazard Technology Partners in 1998. Over its life and spanning two funds, LTP invested $360 million in 29 companies of which 9 were software companies sponsored by Mr. Burns, including Vocus (Nasdaq IPO), Compatible Systems (acquired by Cisco), Signal Soft (Nasdaq IPO), Terascape (acquired by EMC), Cyveillance (acquired by QinetiQ), Intellitactics (acquired by Trustwave), and Boxtone (acquired by Good Technology).

Prior to Lazard Technology Partners, Mr. Burns was the Founder, President, and CEO of Intersolv, Inc. from 1982 to 1996. Over this period, Intersolv grew from a startup to a worldwide leader in application development and management software with over $250M in revenue and customers in 22 countries. Mr. Burns led Intersolv’s IPO in 1986 and the subsequent sale of the company to Microfocus of the UK in 1998.

Prior to founding Intersolv, Mr. Burns was employed in senior sales, marketing, and development management positions at Cincom Systems. When Mr. Burns joined the company in early 1974, Cincom had revenues of approximately $20 million annually, specializing in DataBase Management Systems (DBMS) on IBM mainframes. Over the course of Mr. Burns’ tenure, revenue grew to over $70 million per year and the product line expanded to include minicomputer DBMS and a suite of application development software.

Mr. Burns has served on 15 different company boards over the past 25 years. During this period, he had a meaningful role in 5 public offerings, 7 M&A transactions as a seller and 8 as a buyer.

Mr. Burns holds a M.B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and a B.S. degree in Business Finance from Ohio State University, Columbus. Mr. Burns and his wife currently reside in Bethesda, MD.
