Chris Trendler is a Partner at ghSMART where he serves leaders in private-equity-backed and Fortune 500 companies on their most critical talent decisions. During his tenure at ghSMART, he has successfully led high-stakes projects in CEO succession, talent assessment, team effectiveness, and human capital due diligence. He leverages his expertise in business strategy and human behavior to ensure the right talent is in place to achieve results. Over the past 3 years, Chris has been a key member of the CEO Genome research team, contributing insights based on his 200+ assessments of CEOs and C-Suite leaders as well as presenting the findings to boards, CEO roundtables, and major gatherings of executives. Chris is also a highly-regarded coach to senior leaders working on their own professional development, including CEO-onboarding, navigating board dynamics, and helping leaders improve their ability to build on their own strengths.
Prior to joining ghSMART, Chris was Vice President of Operations at Tallwave, a leading venture-backed accelerator based in Scottsdale, Arizona. While with Tallwave, Chris assembled and managed teams to develop and commercialize early- and growth-stage companies. He also advised investors on talent assets within portfolio companies.
Before Tallwave, Chris was a consultant with McKinsey & Company where he worked on a variety of strategic projects including international growth, mergers and acquisitions, operations transformations, and strategic procurement. Additionally, he worked with the Itasca Project in Minneapolis to build the economic development strategy for the region.
Prior to consulting, Chris worked in Washington, DC in law and public policy.
Chris holds a JD from the University of Chicago Law School and a BA in Political Science from Brigham Young University. He is also a member of the State Bar of Arizona. Chris lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife and three children.
