Mihai Avram is the Software Architect of Digital Products at ghSMART. He leads ghSMART’s digital and data science initiatives, which are focused on both broadening and deepening ghSMART’s thought leadership and impact using data and technology.

Mihai is the creator of Fakey, a media literacy app that has gotten some attention for helping people deal with misinformation and fake news online. In the past, he has also worked for various fledgling startups in tech leadership roles and as a CTO. Mihai has also published a handful of academic papers in the Network Science, Machine Learning, Big Data, and Computational Social Science domains. While he does not publish academic papers anymore, he is often updating his blog with the goal to empower others to level up their skills in technology. Prior to his leadership and academic experience, Mihai worked as a Senior Solutions Developer for the tech-consulting company Avanade.

Mihai holds a Master’s in Computer Science from Indiana University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Purdue University with minors in Statistics, Management, and Sociology. He currently resides in the Chicago suburbs with his partner.
