Tjai Nielsen is a Principal at ghSMART, partnering with senior leaders to catalyze their success. He advises clients in myriad areas, including maximizing the success of senior teams and their leaders, facilitating enterprise-wide change, executive selection, and CEO succession.
Prior to joining ghSMART, Tjai founded and served as managing director for C-Suite Future, a leadership consultancy focused on creating cultures of trust, accountability, and sustainable excellence. Earlier in his consulting career, Tjai worked for RHR International concentrating on executive selection, leader development, and senior teams. He has worked with many organizations ranging from Fortune 100 corporations to the United States Congress in more than 20 countries across North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
Concurrent with his consulting career, Tjai was an academic for almost 14 years serving as the Director of Executive Education, a Dean’s Research Scholar, and a Professor of Management at George Washington University School of Business and as the Director of Executive Education and MBA programs and a Professor of Management at High Point University School of Business. Tjai earned multiple awards for leading classes at all levels and for his research on senior team performance, leadership development, and international investment strategies, including an invitation to join a United Nations Expert Group. His academic work has produced over 55 refereed research articles, book chapters, and technical reports and more than 85 invited talks and refereed conference presentations.
Tjai holds a Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a B.S. in psychology from Virginia Tech. He lives in Greensboro, North Carolina with his wife Sarah and their three children.
