Den O’Connor is a Principal at ghSMART.  He supports leaders of high performing organisations in leadership assessment, top team effectiveness, talent management and organisational change. His clients range from FTSE 100 CEOs and senior executives to private investors and company boards.

Prior to joining ghSMART, Den was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in London, where he served private and public sector clients on strategy topics. As a core member of the firm’s Strategy and Corporate Finance practice, Den led research into CEO Transitions.  His work explored the decisions made by CEOs who successfully shifted the ethos of their organisations towards longer term value creation, leading to superior financial outperformance against their peers.

Before McKinsey, Den was a detective in the Metropolitan Police in London.  He served in a number of operational roles over the course of a decade, leading both uniformed officers and detectives.  Prior to the police, Den worked as an equity trader in the City of London.  He lives in South West London with his wife, two children, and a dog.
